How to Craft Clear Vinyl Luggage Tags

    • 1). Measure and cut two pieces of clear vinyl to about 3 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches long for a standard business card size tag. Use a strong, but flexible vinyl.

    • 2). Sew the short ends. Place the two pieces of vinyl on top of each other and use the sewing machine to run a straight stitch across one of the short ends, about 1/8 of an inch from the edge. Start and finish the stitching by going back and forth over the stitches three or four times to secure them and to make sure the thread does not unravel from the ends. Go slow, so the needle doesn't tear the vinyl.

    • 3). Sew the two long sides of the two pieces of vinyl, about 1/8 of an inch from the edges and secure the stitches the same way you did on the first short end. Do not sew the other short end together. Run another line of stitches next to the lines on the three sides that you stitched to make the vinyl tags stronger.

    • 4). Punch a hole about 1/4 inch from the edge of the open short end. Insert your luggage tag card and feed a plastic "worm" or cord through the hole to attach the tag to the handles of your luggage. Make as many of these clear vinyl tags as you need for your luggage.
