How to Reset the Check Engine Light on a 2003 Dodge Caravan

    • 1). Turn the ignition key off and connect the scan tool to the diagnostic connector. On the 2003 Caravan the connector is located under the left side of the dash near the steering column. Plug the cable into this connector.

    • 2). Turn the key on and select "Read Codes" from the menu on the scan tool's screen. In a few seconds all of the stored codes will be displayed. Write down their code numbers and descriptions. This will save time if further diagnostics are needed later should the light come back on

    • 3). Reset the engine light by pushing the back button and selecting "Erase Codes" or Clear Codes" from the menu. Select "Yes" when the message comes up that asks if you are sure you want to erase the codes. In a few seconds a message will be displayed indicating that the codes have been cleared and the light has been reset. Test-drive the Dodge to make sure the check engine light doesn't come back on.
